Antonio Frilli, a renowned Florentine sculptor, specialized in the popular Belle Époque subjects of his time, often creating evocative works in marble and alabaster. A professor at the Fine Arts Academy of Florence, Frilli was also a savvy businessman who founded the Frilli Gallery in 1860 in Florence. He actively participated in World Fairs, garnering international acclaim and earning numerous awards throughout his career. His work is celebrated for its emotional resonance and technical brilliance, and in 1904, he was posthumously awarded the Grand Prix at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis. His contributions to the world of sculpture continue to be admired today for their enduring beauty and intricate craftsmanship.
