Known as the tastemaker of his age, the Duke of Windsor had an incredible collection, beginning at an early age, of cufflinks, ties, socks, and other fashionable accessories. Titled the Prince of Wales on his 16th birthday, Edward was crowned King of England in January 1936, but famously and scandalously abdicated his throne after less than a year in order to marry the American divorcee and socialite Wallis Simpson. Truly a love story for the ages, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor lived happily as a fashionable couple of high society until the Duke’s death in 1972.
